Faux wood grain in Pittsburgh

posted in Analog, Faux Finishes

In and amongst various digital projects, I found a little chill time painting up a rental apartment here in Pittsburgh for a friend.

Completely trashed by former tenant. First I prepped out the ceiling and walls, cutting some level picture rail lines with two colors to help level the psychic experience of new tenant-- its an old house, and my lines are the only thing that qualify as “level” :).

faux painted wood grain doorSuper handyman Bob put in the new Pergo floor, and I leveled out the baseboard with faux painted wood grain in same way. I also faux painted wood grain on the front door, which is actually metal and started out battleship grey.

Ah painting, such a terrific (but still productive) respite from the computer screen. Making this little efficiency feel brighter and more spacious is aesthetically gratifying, and given that my friend can charge more now, its a good business move as well.
