Custom Picture Framing

posted in Analog, Custom Art   tagged ,

When I got my first full time “job” working at a custom picture framing shop in San Francisco in 1990, I had no idea how pervasive and influential an experience it would be, or that years later, I’d return to it for a couple of years more.

I had the privilege to work with interesting collectors, artists and artwork from across the entire spectrum of the art world, and in hindsight, it was through my acquaintance with artist and art dealer Jack Hanley at this time that I was re-affirmed in trying to make a professional life as an artist rather than anything else.

This picture is from the San Francisco Examiner in July of 1993, with baseball Hall of Fame legend Rollie Fingers being presented with a jersey I framed myself.
