Site development and publishing training in a non-profit consulting contract with this established Pittsburgh regional development organization.

Using the WordPress website platform, I created a new search-friendly hub for their online publishing and social activities.

Timed with the overhaul of Vibrant Pittsburgh‘s branding and messaging and conversion to a new name, the basic idea was to provide a small staff with a big set of tools to get the new brand established and extend the reach of the group through search (for newcomers to Pittsburgh) and social networking (for currently unconnected communities in Pittsburgh.

The branding, messaging & layout of this site were developed by a local ad agency in a traditional brochure style before I was introduced to the project, and I worked to develop an integrated online set of web 3.0 publishing & sharing tools (connecting blog, Twitter and Facebook strategies) inside the framework previously approved by Vibrant Pittsburgh board and CEO, Melanie Harrington.

Vibrant Pittsburgh has since changed its WordPress theme to a more contemporary, user-friendly layout, while maintaining and developing the information architecture and online publishing established in our initial engagement, which also included a customized SEO/keyword blueprint I researched and installed in the WordPress taxonomy management system, and basic training in coordinated blogging and social media communications.
