An optimized WordPress site comes to the online rescue of small Pittsburgh retailer. The Picket Fence is a women’s and children’s boutique in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh with a wonderful emphasis on up-and-coming individual designers and artisan quality goods. They have a unique angle on their niche and carry carefully selected items through thoughtful relationships cultivate all around the country. Naturally, I love them!

They’ve also kept a very complete ecommerce site up for a few years now that, while nicely detailed and designed, was having a brutal time in the search engines. So with the help of a properly optimized WordPress publishing tool, and a personal layer of content creation on top of the product publishing, The Picket Fence has seen a nice increase in web traffic from both search and social media sites, coupled with a nice increase in actual online sales in just a few months.
In addition to providing upgrades to their RSS structure and social media integration to keep pace with Magento and WordPress improvements, I also created a custom landing page on The Picket Fence Facebook page to improve first impression branding, hours/location awareness and provide a “Shop Your Inbox” subscription feature for fans of the store who don’t live in Pittsburgh.
