This is the latest incarnation of the online portfolio for my custom mural, faux finish, art & design business that I’ve been improving and updating since 2001, when I learned my first bit of HTML and discovered my first successful online business strategy.
Back in the day, I used my portfolio site to show my work to potential entertainment industry employers in Los Angeles and beyond without having to leave San Diego. As simple as it sounds, this was a major technological improvement from industry standard at the time: driving around with a huge (and expensive to produce) portfolio of printed photographs, drawings and renderings.
As my business evolved, the site became essential in attracting new potential private clients without any paid advertising (hooray, organic search!), pre-screen the tire-kickers without too much wasted personal time, and establish realistic price expectations of my custom art services through photos and testimonials rather than awkward sticker shock conversations on the phone.
