The Frame Maker

The Frame Maker web site and WordPress blog suite
The Frame Maker site was written by hand in CSS/HTML back in 2008 and incorporates three different WordPress blogs, each devoted to different focus area of a premium picture framing business in San Diego: local art events (many of them featuring or hosted by clients of the business), specialty picture frame design issues, and the doings of regular client and corporate partner the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

In addition to designing and developing the site and blog designs, I sourced and wrote the content for all three blogs for almost two years until ending the contract in April of 2010. The search success of this content driven approach was pretty evident not just on the first page of Google searches for “picture framing San Diego” and the like (where they had been noticeably absent before ;), but also in the uptick of new customer inquiries, appointements and sales that started from the web. For part of this time I also acted as general manager and had the opportunity to personally talk with new clients about how they found us and why they chose us over cheaper alternatives. The answer was always resoundingly along the lines of, “Well after finding your site online, we knew you were the only place to go.”
